Version 0.9.0a Released, Get it here!

Postby bakadeshi on Thu Oct 22, 2009 2:58 pm

Current version 0.9.0a (Betaish software, still under development)

This was a little program that started out as a way for me to mass-convert all AuN's amvs for streaming from the website, but has grown to the point that I decided I should share it with the rest of the community that may find it useful ;p This is just a GUI to other programs that do the actual work. (Mainly mencoder) Its is designed in way to make converting Many amvs to different formats easy and quick. The program is desinged to make it easy for people that don't know much about compressing to get high quality encodes, since its preset profiles that you choose based on your type AMV. mp4 for distro, mp4 for streaming, mpeg2 for conventions, flv for streaming, and mp4 for PSP formats are all highly optimized for best quality for Anime and AMVs. AVIs still need optimizing, they pretty good, but I think we can get the quality better. It just wasn't a huge priority for me, since virtualdub does a fine job as it is, and I had no need to mass-convert avi's yet.

The Program: wrote:http://www.aunstudios.com/downloads/avmbatchenc.rar
- Download this file, extract to a location on your harddrive (with enough space for temporary processing, at least couple hundred megs) and run program from AMVBatchEnc.exe

Updated 10/21/2009 - Standalone .EXE file can be gotten here (if you already have a prev version, just overwrite the one in the AMVBatchEnc folder)

WindowsXP and earlier users: Requires .Net 2.0 Runtime
Windows Vista/7 users need not install anything extra.

Note: If you think you already have .net installed, just try to run it, it will give an error if you need to install it.

NeroACCenc is not included in the package since its liscense agreement doesn't allow redistribution. You will have to download this seperately from here:

http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nerod ... -codec.php

(or copy it from Zarx's GUI or other util that uses it) and put it in the AMVBatchEnc folder with the other binaries.

Sourcecode (VB.net):
http://www.aunstudios.com/downloads/amv ... source.rar

I've been using this encoder for the last few amvs I've released, aswell as to make the streaming videos for the site. Its a bit easier for novices to use than Other programs, since it doesn;t require you to know much about bitrates, etc, as it is aleady optimized for amvs. In the future, I plan to make profiles editable for advanced users, but currently its not the case.
This uses .net 2.0, so you will need .net framework to run this gui if your not on vista or windows7.

I consider this Open source software, so source is also available, and you can modify this for your own needs. (if you add features that is usefull and want me to add it to my program, let me know via PM or email and i'll probably add it. ^^)

0.9.0a Changes:
- Fixed some issues with PSP formats not producing playable files with certain file types (hopefully, let me know if you find any that still doesn't convert properly)
- Added an AVISynth Script section where you can pass all files through a global avisynth processing script (usefull for such things as resizing, adding/removing borders, adjusting picture settings, adjusting framerates, etc)
- Added a Test Encode/ Sectional output feature, configurable in the Output tab under advanced settings, where you can Set a begin and end point for all files being processed, Can be used to test settings across files by setting it so it exports a small section to test playback. Can also be used to cut out opening and endings for anime episodes.
- Cleaned up the Advanced Options tab, made it neater.
- Added Ipod/Iphone profile based on settings I found online, Needs testing, I don't have an Iphone to test with. Let me know if it works.
- Added subtitle options and better control over how subtitles are detected.
- Cleaned up the Profile selections as per Corran's suggestion.

This version has a few features I am still working on and so don't work yet, Namely the PS3/Xbox Profiles, and the Output to custom destination option in the Output tab. I am also working on the code to save the current program state on exit as per Corran's suggestion, will be in next release.

Features list as of 0.8.9a:

- Front end to various cmd utils: Mencoder, ffmpeg, dsvideo, mp4box, neroaacenc, and mplayer
- Compression to many formats, including MP4s (H264) for distribution, Mpeg2s for conventions (with some profiles that automatically add the black borders, Optimized with settings similar to the HQ Convention profile in TempGEnc) Xvid AVIs, Flash (.Flv). MP4 for PSP (with profiles for both anime and AMVs), Nintendo DS (.Dsv), among others.
- Reads AVS files, and has a feature to automatically open each file as an avs file (may solve some odd format reading problems, such as lagarith in mencoder, and allows to add script filters or commands to all files processed through the encoder, usefull for such things as adding the black space before and after a video for a convention mpeg2 encode, Feature in the advanced tab)
- Processes multiple files in one job (each job is to convert any number of files to one format), and can batch process jobs (usefull for stuff like making mp4s , mpegs and psp format files for alot of files in one go)
- Can use multiple threads for multi-processor machines. (where applicable)
- Easy to use, just drag and drop all the files to convert into the Job window, choose your compression type and profile, and either "Run Job" or "Add to batch" for future processing with other jobs.

Planned features:
- Editable profiles and ability to add new ones
- Also would like to add settings for Ipod/Iphone video, but don't have one for testing .....If someone wants to help with this, pm mah.

Known issues:
- The progress bar (green bars) doesn't always show the correct progress (mostly on batches and single pass encodes), I just havn't had time to go through and figure this one out yet, and is not a critical error.
- The "test" avisynth button in the advanced options tab, is a brand new feature that hasn't really been tested thoroughly and so may behave unexpectedly.
- Does not remove temporary files from working directory (yet) you will have to remove Outfile.264 and audio.m4a manually if the space these 2 files take up is of concern.
- if you find any other bugs/issues let me know and i'll add them here or fix them.

Thanks!
